Nai Kampl is a Slovenian karting driver from Ptuj. What began as a brief encounter with karting in 2018 became serious in 2022. Since then, the progression has been quick — from rental racing and SWS to the World Finals and now Rotax Senior.
He is competitive on track, demanding of himself and expected to bring the same discipline to school. At fifteen, the point is not to look like a finished driver. It is to keep becoming a better one.

AT THE TRACK
Competition brought out what still defines him: he learns quickly, sees opportunities early and is comfortable making decisions at speed.
The instinct matters, but so does the work behind it — lines, braking points, data, setup and understanding why a lap was fast, not only that it was.

AT SCHOOL
He attends Gimnazija Ptuj and finished the previous school year with very good academic results.
Race weekends, travel and testing have to fit around school, not replace it. The same habits matter in both places: preparation, concentration and consistency.

EVERYWHERE ELSE
Away from the kart, Nai is still a 15-year-old from Ptuj — friends, school, family, travel and normal life between race weekends.
The aim is not to manufacture a racing persona around him. The racing is serious; the person behind it should remain real.

A RACE RESULT.
Nai’s progress has been fast. In SWS he went from second in Slovenia in 2024 to Slovenia’s number one driver in 2025, with 35 wins in 73 races and a world-ranking peak of #6. Those numbers belong on the racing pages; what matters here is how he got there.
He likes the competitive part of racing — finding a gap, creating an opportunity and making a decision while everything is happening quickly. But each step upward has also made the less visible work more important: preparation, feedback, understanding the kart and learning from sessions that did not go to plan.
In 2026 the challenge changed again. Rotax Senior brought more speed, more setup, stronger competition and more responsibility. Joining SLR Racing means starting another chapter as a student of the sport rather than protecting what he had already achieved.

THE DAYS
BETWEEN RACES.
A racing season is not made only from starts, overtakes and podiums. There are long drives, waiting in the paddock, preparation, schoolwork that still has to be done, conversations after sessions and ordinary days at home.
Those parts are useful too. They keep racing in perspective and make the next weekend something to work toward rather than something to perform for.

THE CONSTANT.
Most race weekends are a two-person operation. Nai drives. His dad, Denis, works beside him as mechanic — preparing the kart, making changes between sessions and helping turn what happened on track into something useful for the next one.
It is a relationship that has grown with the racing. From the early days of karting to SWS, Le Mans and now Rotax Senior, the machinery and level of competition have changed, but one part has remained constant: they work through it together.
The job is not to drive the race for him.
Prepare. Observe. Discuss. Then, when the visor closes, the race belongs to Nai.

At fifteen, there is no reason to pretend the story is complete. The interesting part is the distance between what Nai can do today and what he may be able to do after another season of work.
